The level of eHealth and health IT skills needed depends on the place of education, the profession, the amount of technology used in healthcare in the country and even the personal interest for IT skills. The EU*US eHealth Work Project along with the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society’s (HIMSS) Technology Informatics Guiding Education Reform (TIGER) workgroup have conducted a global assessment of informatics related competencies. A gap analysis was performed and the resultant Foundational Curriculum was developed. The curriculum provides foundational skills for health IT and eHealth topics as well as providing an overview of the healthcare process for a professional in healthcare informatics.
