‘Concept Mapping’ is a powerful tool to communicate the way in which health management competencies are embedded throughout a curriculum. The nature of our field lends itself to enhancing our curricula by engaging subject matter experts throughout our students’ course of study. While the breadth of faculty engaged in graduate health management education provides great benefits and assets to student learning, it also has the potential to allow for disjointed implementation of a comprehensive competency model. Therefore, the MHA Program team at Stony Brook Medicine developed this concept map to serve as a concise, yet effective, tool which we have successfully used to facilitate communication and collaboration among our full-time and subject matter expert faculty members.  We offer this approach to other competency-based health management programs as a tool to enhance inter-faculty communication and successful student learning.
