AUPHA is pleased to announce that Georges C. Benjamin, MD, Executive Director of the American Public Health Association (APHA), will be the pre-conference keynote speaker for the 2022 Annual Meeting. Dr. Benjamin will speak on Wednesday, May 25, 2022,  2:00 – 3:15 p.m. Eastern Time, over Zoom. 

Dr. Benjamin’s presentation will focus on the need to further blur the boundaries of health services delivery and public/population health to integrate for whole health, primary care, prevention, and wellness.

Dr. Good is the CEO of University of Utah Health, the Dean of the University of Utah School of Medicine, and the Senior Vice President of Health Sciences. In these positions, Dr. Good works to assure the professional and educational success of more than 20,000 talented faculty, staff and students who make University of Utah Health (U of U Health) one of the nation’s premier centers of academic health sciences. 

Prior to coming to University of Utah, Dr. Good served as dean of the University of Florida College of Medicine, where he maintained a strong focus on teams, faculty, and students. A professor of anesthesiology, Dr. Good is also a noted inventor. Early in his academic career, he led a team of UF physicians and engineers to create the Human Patient Simulator, a sophisticated computerized teaching tool that is now used in health-care education programs throughout the world. AUPHA is pleaded to announce that Lisa Simpson, MB, B.Ch, MPH, FAAP, will be the AUPHA Forum speaker during the 2022 AUPHA Annual Meeting on Thursday, June 9th, 3:15 – 4:30 AM Mountain time.
Dr. Simpson has been the President and Chief Executive Officer of AcademyHealth since 2011. A nationally recognized health policy researcher and pediatrician, she is a passionate advocate for the translation of research into policy and practice. Her research, and over 100 articles and commentaries in peer reviewed journals, focuses on the role of evidence and data to improve health and health care, particularly for children and vulnerable populations.

Before joining AcademyHealth, Dr. Simpson spent eight years as a professor of pediatrics, first as an Endowed Chair in Child Health Policy at the University of South Florida and then as the Director of the Child Policy Research Center at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and the University of Cincinnati. In addition, she served as the Deputy Director of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality from 1996 to 2002.
