Site Visit: CAMLS - Center For Advanced Medical Learning And Simulation

AUPHA is pleased to offer a site visit of the University of Florida's Center for Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation (CAMLS). CAMLS is one of the world’s largest, free-standing simulation facilities exclusively dedicated to training healthcare professionals. It provides simulation experiences for educating students; training healthcare faculty in simulation education; and preparing healthcare professionals to acquire, maintain, and enhance their clinical practice to meet today’s workforce needs and improve patient care around the globe. 

Conveniently located only a few blocks away from the Annual Meeting's location, the tour will start with welcomes and introduction by Yasuharu (Haru) Okuda, MD, FACEP, FSSH, Executive Director & CEO, USF Health CAMLS, and be followed by a tour of the 90,000-square-foot, three-story facility. This will include state-of-the-art, high-fidelity clinical environments, with roughly 60,000 square feet dedicated to surgical skills labs, operating trauma suites, and patient exam rooms, plus more than 25,000 square feet of meeting and conference space.

Art of Teaching Institute
Navigating the AI Landscape: Essentials for Health Administration Education

1:00 – 4:30PM Eastern


Join colleagues in this Art of Teaching Institute course scheduled to be held before the official start of the 2024 AUPHA Annual Meeting. Upon completion of this AI Integration workshop, participants will have acquired both theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for integrating AI tools into their educational practices. Attendees will leave the workshop equipped with an understanding of how to incorporate AI into their current curriculum, both in traditional and online settings. Specifically, they will have learned how to adapt existing course assignments to include AI elements, design and implement innovative AI-enhanced teaching strategies, and continuously adapt to evolving AI technologies in health management education.

Leadership Academy
The Emerging Leader: Program Directors

Officially launching AUPHA's Leadership Academy, this course is tailored to empower you in your pivotal role as an Academic Program Director. We will explore the multifaceted aspects of academic leadership, providing you with the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in the dynamic higher education environment. The curriculum covers a spectrum of key areas: student success, marketing, curriculum development, advanced program planning and implementation, and accreditation processes, and student and faculty engagement. We'll explore effective strategies for fostering a positive learning environment by integrating justice, equity, inclusion, belonging, and diversity and ensuring academic excellence. Through a variety of interactive activities including case studies and collaborative peer discussions, you'll gain practical tools to address the unique challenges faced by an academic program director. By the end of the program, you'll have foundational skills to steer your program toward success.

Volunteer Opportunity with Metropolitan Ministries of Tampa!

For those arriving in Tampa early, a volunteer opportunity is currently under development for Monday afternoon.  More details will be provided closer to the date of the Annual Meeting.

Transportation will be by motorboat and will leave from the dock behind the JW Marriott Tampa Water Street Hotel.

SUNSET CRUISE ON HARBOR BAY

 

Thursday, June 6, 2024 
Approximately 7:30 – 9:30PM Eastern


Set sail on Tampa’s Harbor Bay!  Join friends and colleagues on a sunset cruise that will depart from behind the JW Marriott Tampa Water Street Hotel. Leave the day behind and take part in the breathtaking vivid colors of the western sky. Bring a bottle of wine or other beverage; cups and ice will be provided. Enjoy dinner on your own beforehand at one of the many restaurants located nearby.

COST: $25 per person, limited to 50 individuals
